This is a programme for studying the shape of a bow formed by
joining the ends of a flexible, slender, elastic rod
using a flexible string.
The shape depends on the ratio of H,
the length of the string,
to L, the length of the rod.
There is also the discrete problem, in which a rigid
rod of length L is divided into N + 1 equal parts
which are connected by N joints,
each joint having identical torsional springs.
