Abstract

Raman spectroscopy is one of the vibrational spectroscopic techniques used to provide molecular information. The technique uses a light source to irradiate a sample, and generate a Raman scattered light. Raman spectroscopy though weak in nature provides vital information of a molecule, thus finding itself in many applications. Designing a Raman spectrometer requires knowledge of the chemical being analysed, the laser source, the optics used and imaging detector for obtaining the optimum performance. Certain criterias needed to be considered and choice of the components plays a crucial role in design a spectrometer.
