Prof. Sai Siva Gorthi is a Professor at the Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics, IISc Bengaluru, and heads the Optics and Microfluidics Instrumentation (OMI) Lab. His work combines optics, microfluidics, and nanotechnology to create Lab-in-a-Box platforms for One-Health diagnostics. He earned his Ph.D. in Optical Metrology from EPFL, Switzerland, and pursued postdoctoral research in Optofluidics at Harvard University. At IISc, he has established a prolific research program with over 95 journal publications, 36 patents and 12 Novel Technologies. Beyond academia, he Founded ShanMukha Innovations Pvt. Ltd. in 2016 under IISc's Faculty Entrepreneurship Program, which delivers affordable diagnostic technologies to society. HPOS is one such technology invented at IISc and Translated by SMI as the India's first Sickle-Cell Anemia Testing Platform for Adivasis and is successfully integrated into Karnataka's Public Health System. Prof. Gorthi's career reflects global expertise, academic excellence, and entrepreneurial impact, advancing Science for Societal benefit. He has established a Regional Resource Center at IISc for Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn), DHR, MoHFW in 2022 and serving as a PI, and is a Hon Vice President of Instrument Society of India (ISOI).
