Research Interest

Sandhiya’s research focuses on the design and development of advanced materials and hybrid systems for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Some of her core research areas are:

  • Supercapacitor Materials and Devices: Heteroatom-doped graphene and metal oxide–graphene nanocomposites for high-performance supercapacitor applications; fabrication of flexible and solid-state supercapacitors; exploration of redox additive electrolytes to enhance energy and power density.
  • Hybrid Energy Storage Systems: Development of supercapattery–diode configurations and the discovery of novel materials for efficient ammonium-ion storage.
  • Electrocatalysis and Water Splitting: Investigation of multifunctional materials for efficient oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions toward green hydrogen production.
  • Energy Harvesting: Exploring light-driven and electrochemical routes for self-charging and integrated energy storage applications.

Biographical Sketch

  • Currently a DST Inspire Faculty Fellow in the Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.
  • Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Ben-Gurion University, Israel (2023–2025).
  • PhD in Chemical Sciences (DST Inspire Fellow) from CSIR–Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India (2018–2022).
  • Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Muthayammal College of Arts and Science, Rasipuram, Tamil Nadu, India (2016–2017).
  • B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Muthayammal College of Arts and Science, Rasipuram, Tamil Nadu, India (2011–2016).
